Katie M Dixon ASDR-AWTRS-MEPSA 2018 Joint Meeting

Katie M Dixon

Katie Dixon is a Cancer Institute NSW Fellow at the University of Sydney, where she leads the Sunlight and Cancer Group. Katie’s group works on identifying novel targets for melanoma treatment. Specifically, she is interested in the link between sun exposure, vitamin D and melanoma outcome. Katie continues to investigate the molecular mechanisms behind her PhD studies that showed vitamin D compounds protect against UV-induced skin carcinogenesis. Katie’s postdoctoral studies were centred on identification of novel drug targets prostate cancer. She returned to work on skin cancer and vitamin D in 2012 and was appointed to faculty in the Discipline of Anatomy and Histology at the University of Sydney, where she was funded by a Cancer Institute NSW Early Career Fellowship to pursue her studies on skin cancer.
