Anneliese S Ashhurst

Dr Anneliese Ashhurst is an early career research fellow at the University of Sydney, performing interdisciplinary research with the laboratories of Professor Scott Byrne (School of Medical Sciences and Westmead Institute for Medical Research) and Professor Richard Payne (School of Chemistry). Anneliese is a research immunologist with a background in studying the host immune response to respiratory infections, with an interest in vaccines or drug therapies designed for pulmonary delivery, including for tuberculosis and COVID-19. Recently, her primary research interests are in the development of peptide-based therapies for controlling inappropriate inflammation, focusing on skin conditions such as psoriasis and dermatitis. She is also passionate about teaching and mentoring students at all stages of education. Anneliese’s research is supported by the NHMRC, the University of Sydney Institute for Infectious Diseases and the Drug Discovery Initiative, and the Group for Research and Assessment of Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis (GRAPPA).
